Result interpretation

Weaknesses are attack types that deal more than normal damage. Resistances deal less than normal damage, and immunities show attacks that do no damage.

Formula

For dual types, each attack multiplier is multiplied together. For example, Grass against Water / Ground is 2x times 2x, which becomes 4x.

Weakness chart

The single-type chart below is useful for quick Pokemon weakness chart lookups. Use the calculator when a Pokemon has two types because the multipliers stack.

Dual type calculator

Choose a second defensive type whenever you need more than a basic chart. Dual type matchups can turn a normal weakness into a 4x weakness, resistance, or full immunity.

Weakness calculator examples

Use the presets for fast checks such as Charizard, Garchomp, or Greninja, or choose custom types when you only know the Pokemon's defensive typing.

Common uses

Check a Pokemon's defensive profile before choosing a switch-in, planning a raid counter, or comparing a dual type's weaknesses against common attacks.

FAQ

What does the Pokemon Type Calculator show?

It shows weaknesses, resistances, immunities, and every attacking type multiplier for one or two defensive types, so it works as a Pokemon weakness calculator and quick type chart.

Can this calculator handle dual types?

Yes. Choose a primary and secondary defensive type and the calculator multiplies both matchup values together.

Can I use this as a dual type calculator?

Yes. Leave the secondary type blank for a single-type lookup, or choose two defensive types to get the stacked dual-type weaknesses, resistances, and immunities.

Is this the same as a team coverage calculator?

No. This page checks one Pokemon's defensive type profile. Use the Pokemon Type Coverage Calculator to compare attacking move coverage.

How should I read the Pokemon weakness chart?

Start with the defense type row. A 2x chip means that attack type is super effective, a 0.5x chip is resisted, and an immune type takes no damage from that attack type.

Why can a dual type have a 4x weakness?

A 4x weakness happens when both defensive types are weak to the same attack type. If one type is weak and the other resists it, the final result usually becomes neutral.
